Compulsive or deliberate?

Are you the type of writer that "has" to write or you will go mad? Or are you able to be more deliberate and sublimate that urge to your schedule?

Just wondering how everyone is doing.

    My answer is: Both.
Which explains my sleep deficit. :)

On the one hand, I've been itching to get back to both Book #6 in my series and a short story I'm writing with a particular anthology in mind. I've been sublimating that urge while doing other writing-related activities. Those have included finishing up my edits and production on the FSPA Anthology (which went to the printer yesterday), answering interview questions from Aisling Press, adding material to an article on dark poetry forthcoming in Poets' Forum Magazine, and setting up a string of promotional activities for Covenant. I've just posted an overview of those promotional activities at

The dust has settled just about enough for me to return to my fiction projects. In the meantime I've been scribbling notes in my journal, which is my version of releasing steam to keep my mental boiler from blowing up.

Wishing you a happy and productive September!
