Hello out there!
I am looking for a great book on writing short stories. I have a friend who is very good and whose birthday is coming up. There is always room for improvement and he loves to read. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance. Oh BTW, the birthday is soon so if I need to order something let me know quick. Thanks again!

Re: short story writing books
Sun, August 3, 2008 - 8:55 PMYour friend's birthday is probably past, but here's my favorite book on that topic: "The Art of the Short Story," by Edith Wharton.
I mean, my word, that lady could kick serious butt , and then explain clearly why you landed upside-down against the opposite wall. I think with Wharton, E.M. Forster's "Aspects of the Novel," and John Gardner's "The Art of Fiction," you've got a professional curriculum that tops any MFA program. -
