Casting a character

topic posted Wed, March 26, 2008 - 3:06 PM by  Minderella
I am taking a writing class. This weeks' homework is to cast my main characters using actors from books, movies, TV shows etc. I have an idea for most of them but I am stuck on one of my characters. Gabriella (Gabby) is of Colombian decent, small, petite, and spunky. I can't think of anyone to 'play' her. I can see her in my mind but I can't find anyone to cast as her. Any suggestions?
BTW, if you cast characters for your novels/stories, share your ideas. Maybe that will spark some ideas for me too.

Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz.. Or, heck, J-Lo.

I always have casting choices drift up while I'm writing. Sometimes the actor is completely wrong physically for the character, but has that certain something that the character needs.

In my novel, I imagine Jamie Foxx and John C. Reilly fighting over Meryl Streep.

Thanks for all your suggestions! I have had a lot of fun with this assignment. I have found some actors/actresses to cast but I am still searching for some perfect ones. Keep the names coming!
As one of main male characters I have 'cast' Matthew McConaughey. He is perfect physically but my character is an evil shape shifter. The thought of sweet Matthew playing a monster on the big screen had me in stitches yesterday. Just thought I would share.
