Keep the story moving at all times. I used to write children's stories that I would share at the daycare I worked at and for a creative writing class in college. I am NOT an artist so I had to entertain with words. Humor is also good. I used a lot of descriptive noises as well but I guess that would depend on the age you are shooting for. I was reading to ~2-6 year olds.

I am trying my hand at writing for children. I have a new project I am working on with a friend.

I don't want to dumb down the language, but want to tell a simple story well.

Anyone have experience doing this that they want to share?
