On the Asimov's forum thread "The Best New Stories Of 2008" ( www.asimovs.com/aspnet_for...ssages.aspx ) I found this comment by Fabrice Doublet, posted back on July 7:
"HERMIT CRABS by Elissa Malcohn in Electric Velocipede 14 is very good."
And this reply by Gardner Dozois:
"Elissa Malcohn was a new writer back when I first took over ASIMOV'S, then vanished for decades. Good to see that she's writing again."
That had me grinnin'. I'd had a long writing drought during my multiple-shift days.
And Riffing on Strings: Creative Writing Inspired by String Theory (Scriblerus Press, June 2008) got a very positive review over at New Scientist. Riffing reprinted my story "Arachne," which originally appeared in Aboriginal Science Fiction in Nov./Dec. 1988. A snippet of the review is at

I'm currently attending Readercon (back at this convention for the first time since the 1980s) and am having a blast.
