Okay, it is too quiet. Hopefully that means people are writing. What projects are on your desk right now? Anything promising?

Re: What's cookin':Late March 2007
Tue, March 20, 2007 - 1:30 PMCurrently writing a new short story although it has the feel of "novella'. Suffice to say it involves a psychiatist-psychoanalyst, a crazy patient, other crazy patients and staff, and lots of profanity and coarse language. Oh yes, there are copious references to anatomy and what people do to each other or have done to them with anatomy.
On the other side of the desk I'm writing a paper for a presentation in Toronto in one month's time.

Re: What's cookin':Late March 2007
Tue, March 20, 2007 - 4:16 PMWithin one week after spotting an anthology call for submissions and loving the editors' premise, I've written and (this morning) submitted the first story I've ever done with a specific market (and its universe) in mind. So I'll see how it fares!
Now it's back to my series, whose characters have waited patiently for me to finish with my little diversion...

Tue, March 20, 2007 - 8:00 PMCurrently rewriting my very first novel, trying to get it over 50,000 words so that it meets submission guidelines for the small presses. Got two ms with my agent; one's in submissions (still!) and the other is waiting to be read.

Wed, March 21, 2007 - 5:23 AMI'm on the proverbial death march to finish the Adobe book by the 28th. Then it will be DONE! And I can focus on the tea book which my agent is just now starting to sell and get back to my novel. *sigh* -

Re: What's cookin':Late March 2007
Wed, March 21, 2007 - 6:54 AMI woke up with a fairy tale starting to form inside my head. I want to see if I can write it before we get our adoption completed. I have a good friend that can illustrate it. -

Sat, March 24, 2007 - 3:07 PMTwo gay short story contests, the Eaton contest, an academic article.
And something I want to send to the Paris Review. Fuck it. I've got the balls to do it. And if they reject it, I'll send another one.

Re: What's cookin':Late March 2007
Tue, April 10, 2007 - 1:31 PMI took a little hiatus from Tribe to work on my own writing. I'm worrying over a fictional memoir right now, and I made a good bit of progress, though I'd like to have gotten further in it than I did. I've been writing every day. The best days saw between 20-30 pages. The worst days were a struggle to get through one or two. But there now are a hundred pages or so that didn't exist a couple weeks ago, and the book is halfway finished toward an initial draft.
There's an historical novel I'd also like to work on, but the "memoir" piece is where the life is right now, so I have to go with that. We shall see. -
